DashBoard Rocks
All morning in anticipation. Hoping not to be let down by a delivery man deciding to put off until tomorrow. Wondering how accurate tracking numbers are in their estimated delivery time. This just in [be beep be beep] this is the first offical post coming to you via brand new Macbook.
Ah it was like Christmas- savoring the moments when I tore the packing tape off the box which had been placed on the couch- brothers hovering everywhere. "How thin and sleek! What technology exists!" -Mom quote.
The lid was lifted, the marvelously genius magnet closure disconnecting smoothly. The on button. AH! The surge of excitment as the loading screen shows and the Apple logo becomes animated.
I cant believe I actually made a decision and bought the thing [reference Starbucks quote]. I'm still manuvering around the workings. It took me forever to find the volume button and how to copy and paste- which stunned me with its cool factor when I realized. Not having a left click is disconcerting as well as not having a tappad, just the click button registers. I'm lacking in word document software at the moment, but I found just a little while ago a 30 day Microsoft Word free trial that'll tide me over. I've yet to figure out how to adjust the bookmarks.
We all had a grand time being incredibly goofy with photo booth and the isight camera. Good times...laughter is required if you intend to hang onto any level of sanity around here. Well, anywhere honestly.
My only worry at the moment- whether my camera is compatible.
Ah! I went to insert the link to the 'Plague of Indecisiveness' post which included the Starbucks quote and all the editing tools arent visible for posting...not Mac supported? Major bummer. How shall I blog without linkage? Html I suppose...

SWEET, LANE!!! I felt exactly the same way when I got my laptop....don't worry, it doesn't take that long to figure out the workings of it! See ya at FUSE!!!!
~~YOU KNOW WHO~~
Your camera will work.
You don't need a left click! OS X is set up way better than Windows ever could be, so all the contextual menus can normally be reached in the menu bar in the top of the screen. As for the tapping the trackpad thing, go into System Preferences|Mouse and Keyboard. In the menu that follows, there should be an option to use a tap on the trackpad as a click of the mouse.
Needing MS Word? Bah! Use openoffice (grr, it won't let me use HTML for linky). You'll need to have the Xcode app, but if you don't have it let me know- I'll give you a copy because I do have it. It is completely compatible with Word. Just thought I'd mention that iWork kicks Microsoft Office's behind any day.
Methinks we'll have to get the Mac users in an iChat sometime... It'd be fun!

Cool. You have been Appled. But whatever you do, DON'T let Mike Hoffman tell you that he convinced you. It was your decision. Solely your decision.
My laptop don't have iChat. I guess I'm not cool.
sure is, -ynk-!
trackpad- great to know.
openoffice- also good to know & worth placing in a mind's file of easy access in the near future.
dude- I have been appled- ha like it.
I would have to agree that MH didnt convince me to go apple. He did explain to me about icky Vista's workings, deterring me from anything running it.
Hey, iDude...whoever you are. Lane's conversion was because of ME! Just kidding.
Lane, don't use Safari. Use Camino (caminobrowser.com). It's faster and, because it's based from Firefox (different than Firefox for Mac, though), stuff like the buttons on Blogger actually work. MS Word is terrible, by the way.
And now I am officially jealous of you... :-P

Nothing Falls But Zunes...Exitedly Running Up.
I suppose your collective hatred for PC's and Microsoft feels to me like my hatred for country music felt to Daniel, Justin and other fine folks.
Which makes me not want to embrace and vocalize such a preferential dislike ever again.
Oooh. Okeydoke. I'm not into Safari, so I'll definitely check it out. Our desktop runs Firefox...about as close a browser can get to Mac style.
JB- At least for me, it's a personal preference towards one, not a complete disillusion of all good thoughts toward another. Your comment's thought provoking...
:-]
Just to clarify, CA, I don't hate PC. I just have this incredibly strong preference for Mac (I'll spare you the details). PC kinda looks cute, even if he is chubby and Mac wears hip clothes...oh, wait, we weren't talking about the TV ads were we? :-P Seriously, though. I use both almost every day.

I don't hate PCs, they were the pioneers of the modern computer. MH did do a good turn for you by demoting Vista. K-web said that your Macbook is black. Sweet.
I am the only true hater of PC. And it is not the hardware, but the software that I hate. I think that the machine itself is just as good as a Mac- even if it doesn't look as sleek or cool as Mac. I'm not a fan however of my software crashing every five minutes- something XP and Vista are notorious for.
HA HA! I'm posting a random comment on an ancient post! Oh the awesomeness of hilarity!
