Listening to Their Stories

I've been thoroughly enjoying WWII documentary videos. Oh the history! Oh the unspeakably neat and irreplaceable quality of hearing of the events that occurred as time passed by from the people whose lives were directly affected. It's refreshing and alive compared to a textbook...

"Mama, Mama...I let him go."

"...for I saw not a great deal of difference between that man’s army and the armies that they were fighting."

"Home was the most wonderful place the world ever contained."

"'Nice girls' don't go to New York City."

"To fight this war, 10 million more of us must go to work before the end of 1943."

The above provides explanation as to why for years upon years my grandma had magazines and newspapers stacked under her coffee table. As they say- waste not want not.

Musings

Today my alarm on my cell phone went off at 7am and I thought "why's that thing going off, it's Saturday." All week I've been a day ahead of myself.

A moment ago while standing in the kitchen filling my water bottle a light bulb lit up in my head and I recognized that my mental incapability to remember what day it was, this week was a means of grace from God. I've been thinking I have one less school/week day to complete everything than I really do, and so somehow a really great amount of work has gotten done in comparison with the amount of mixedupness in the house.

This week our house has undergone a major transformation. New paint, clear walls and shelves. All the rooms echo because they're so close to empty. It will start to be available to be shown as of Monday. I've done schoolwork with a house full of Dad's workers painting away. My dad has picked up alot of "slack" for my mom, Kevin and I because we've been tied down with school. Interesting concept- homeschoolers being tied down by their work. I spent afternoons and nights backing my bedroom except for those things I'll need- that's a huge deal folks. My room had the most stuff of any room outside of the basement. While I did that my parents cleared the living room and the other bedrooms. And yet, this has been the best week thus far as far as my APUSH assignments getting done. Hopefully the grades will reflect that. My chemistry's another story...but I'm trying to dwell on the positive here ;-]

Speaking of the positive and changing the subject slightly, last night I was instructed to make a list of all the positive things about moving, to think happy thoughts:
"For every one good thing my mind comes back with three things that are negative."
"Acknowledge them, but don't dwell on them. Dwell on the good."

I'm excited to have a new house. But I'm not excited to give up and move away from the old one and the life I've had here. When my heart asks why, when things dont make sense- I fall back upon His sovereign will for my life and take courage that His work is good. I'm reminded that God has a purpose in taking me away from here and planting me somewhere new. I'm waiting on Him. He did it two and a half years ago and He's doing it again. He was faithful beyond measure to walk with me then and He will be now.

My life is changing. But my God has and will not.
In that I can find joy and peace - better than excitement- unavailable anywhere else in the world.

post in the works about the camping trip. it currently has a happy home in the draft section =]

Lacking in a Related Title

A few moments ago I reached over to the bookshelf with an APUSH related article in hand in need of the sheets of paper to be joined together.

Yay! My family now owns a stapler that works.
Our other one, well, it bent the staple backwards as it put it into the paper. Minor detail but and odd one.

Life as it sits-
Technically life doesnt sit still, it's always progressing even when it doesnt seem that way. Back to the point- I spent hours yesterday obtaining a sore lower back BUT much more importantly is what I achieved. My bedroom is oh, I'd say 75% clear and furniture which can now proceed to be moved out.

Kevin's room is void of nail holes and sticky tack gunk and has nice clean fresh white walls.

And if you're left wondering at this moment, the fill in is that we finally bought a house. Simple statement, more so complicated process on many, many levels.

School at the moment is being fit into under over and around everything else going on in the house. APUSH is going better. Ah. slight relief. Chemistry is rocky, but getting there. I havent dont any this week yet. Translation: I have to do extra. I seem to have a knack [or maybe just a bad habit. most likely it's Providence] for changing gears and switching tracks. I've got to do an extra day's math somewhere along the line. I want to write my research paper on the history and impact today of the welfare system as it has had a pretty large impact in my own neighborhood *cough* but it may end up on creation science since I have a good outline from last year ready to be used.

As of one minute ago, the FOR SALE sign was officially placed in front of our house.
THANK YOU to everyone who is praying for our family. It's muchly appreciated!

[hmm]

Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
