Listening to Their Stories
I've been thoroughly enjoying WWII documentary videos. Oh the history! Oh the unspeakably neat and irreplaceable quality of hearing of the events that occurred as time passed by from the people whose lives were directly affected. It's refreshing and alive compared to a textbook...
"...for I saw not a great deal of difference between that man’s army and the armies that they were fighting."
"'Nice girls' don't go to New York City."
"To fight this war, 10 million more of us must go to work before the end of 1943."
The above provides explanation as to why for years upon years my grandma had magazines and newspapers stacked under her coffee table. As they say- waste not want not.
